Snacks the Snake was created by education specialists, Learning Days Ltd, for NHS Tees. It is part of a set of resources contained in a 'Smile Sack'. The Smile Sack programme is part of a suite of initiatives within the Tees Health and Commissioning Strategy to improve the oral health of children, and reduce inequalities both in dental health and access.
Smile Sacks have been distributed to 100+ nursery and reception classes in Teesside. The resources are used in the school setting but also taken home in order to facilitate the embedding of educational messages into daily practice. An evaluation report by NHS Tees is now available on request.

They are part of the Change4Life agenda and focus is on the health and oral benefits of tooth-friendly snacks.
